"Manuel vs The Statue of Liberty" - presented by Overtures

The Gallery Players, 199 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

A musical comedy about illegal immigration, "Manuel versus the Statue of Liberty" is inspired by the true story of a Princeton Undergrad who was an illegal alien, and got a Rhodes Scholarship to study classical Greek and Latin Literature at Oxford, England. He couldn't leave the USA because he would not be able to return. He turned himself in to Homeland Security thinking it would normalize his status. It did not. That part is true - and then we animate the Statue of Liberty, and they have a big fight about who is more American. What is American? The loser of the fight will be deported.
